About Hidden Valley Alpacas
Hidden valley alpaca farm is located in East New Portland
The farm house is the oldest framed home in New Portland
and was built in 1784 by captain Josiah Parker.
We purchased it in 2003 from Ed and Carolyn Emerson
of Mineral Virginia.
Soon after our purchase we felt that the farm was a little
empty without livestock,so with a lot of research and a little luck we discovered the wonderful world of alpacas!
Within six months of looking at many animals and other farms we purchased our first animals.
Our first purchase was two breed females and two maiden females. And later that same year purchased two more breed females and two herdsires.
Over the last few years we have learned how to shear our own animals and take care of most all of there needs.
Our favorite time of year is in the spring when most of the cria[babies] are born.
I am still amazed at how quickly they are up and feeding[generally within an hour] and within three to four hours can actually run.
It has been an amazing and enjoyable experience to this point. We would love to show you all about these amazing creations of God!
